
BAL BRACH was most recently a reporter and editor with CBC News Calgary. She has an extensive background in news reporting, having worked for CTV and Global News stations across Canada. Before moving to Alberta, Bal spent three years working in Vancouver for CTV and Global News. On the west coast, Bal reported for Global B.C. and CTV Vancouver, as well the Weather Network. Behind the scenes, Bal was an associate producer for Global National. She has also produced news shows in Kelowna, Victoria and Winnipeg, from the Global News Affiliate Broadcast Centre.
Bal began her career in Ottawa as a writer at CTV's Canada AM. After producing and reporting at CTV Ottawa, she joined Postmedia (formerly Canwest News Service) as an online journalist. At Postmedia, Bal helped launch the national breaking news desk, covering everything from business and politics, to health, crime and sports. Her published work has appeared on the front pages of major newspapers across the country, including the National Post, Montreal Gazette and the Vancouver Sun. Bal was honoured to be awarded a prestigious Jack Webster Fellowship in 2010. She is a graduate of Carleton University's School of Journalism and Communication.
